Laser Skin Resurfacing in Knoxville, TennesseeWhat is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a laser procedure that works by exfoliating damaged or aged skin to reveal healthier, more vibrant skin underneath. Laser skin resurfacing can be used to treat many cosmetic concerns, including:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Scars
  • And more

During the skin resurfacing process, laser energy also stimulates collagen production in the skin. As new collagen forms, skin elasticity improves for additional benefits. At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we offer laser skin resurfacing via several laser systems, including Fraxel®, Clear + Brilliant®,  Juliet™, and the Excel V®.

How Much Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Cost?

At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we take a personalized approach to every laser skin resurfacing procedure. This means that the cost of your treatment will depend on variables like the laser system used and the number of treatment sessions needed. As a result, we cannot provide you with the exact cost of treatment until you visit us in-office for a consultation. If you are concerned about the cost of your treatment, we are proud to offer financing to help make our treatments more affordable.

What is Clear + Brilliant?

Clear + Brilliant is a gentle laser system that is designed to address the early signs of aging while also preventing them. This is a quick treatment with less downtime than most laser treatments. It can help increase the efficacy of topical skin care products, and patients will enjoy a more youthful appearance, for longer.

What is Fraxel Repair?

Fraxel Repair is an ablative CO2 laser treatment that is designed to address moderate to severe skin damage. This treatment can improve skin tone and texture and reduce sun damage, with most patients achieving optimal results in just one or two treatments.

How painful is the Fraxel Repair?

Although this treatment can be uncomfortable, it is tolerable for most patients. Dr. Gallaher and his staff do their very best to keep you as comfortable as possible with the application of topical numbing and in some cases, oral medications to ease the pain. That would be discussed at time of consultation.

What is Fraxel Restore?

Fraxel Restore is a gentler laser than the Fraxel Repair, as it is non-ablative. This means that patients can expect a shorter recovery period from this laser treatment. It can be effective for both aging concerns and skin damage, but it is ideal for patients with symptoms that are less severe.

What is Fraxel Dual?

Fraxel Dual is a unique laser system that combines the laser technology from Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Repair. By combining these two treatments, patients can achieve dramatic results in just a few treatments. Whether you are looking to address skin damage, signs of aging or other cosmetic concerns, the Fraxel Dual can be an effective solution.

How painful are Fraxel Restore and Fraxel Dual?

After the application of topical numbing medication, our patients tolerate this treatment very well. You will experience a "zingy" and "prickly" sensation throughout the treatment followed by a sunburn feeling. That sensation usually subsides within a few hours.

What is Excel V?

The Excel V laser system is designed to treat vascular lesions such as spider veins or rosacea. In addition, the Excel V laser can be used to treat pigmented lesions and other pigmentary concerns. This laser system has a unique cooling handpiece for optimal safety and comfort.

What is Juliet?

The Juliet™ laser system uses gentle laser energy to treat conditions such as active acne, acne scars, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. This procedure can be performed in less than 10 minutes with no incisions or downtime.

What is the Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatment Like?

The laser skin resurfacing treatment will vary depending on the laser system used and the treatment areas involved. Most laser treatments require the use of a topical anesthetic to numb the skin and minimize discomfort. During treatment, laser energy will be carefully delivered to the skin, targeting the desired areas without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. The treatments can also vary in length depending on the laser system and treatment area.

What is Recovery Like Following Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Although recovery will vary depending on the laser treatment performed, you can expect your skin to be red, sensitive, and dry following a laser treatment. As the skin heals, you'll need to take special care to limit sun exposure and be selective with the usage of cosmetic products. Some patients choose to take a few days off of social activities to let some of these symptoms fade. During your initial consultation, we'll let you know what you can expect from your recovery.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from Laser Skin Resurfacing?

The results from laser skin resurfacing will become visible gradually as the skin heals and collagen production takes effect in the body. However, it is important to note that many laser skin resurfacing procedures will require multiple treatment sessions for optimal results. After the necessary treatments are performed, you may notice continued improvements in skin health for a few months.
