IPL PHOTOFACIAL IN KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE

The IPL Photofacial is a versatile laser procedure that can help you address a range of cosmetic concerns, from signs of aging to skin damage. Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD specializes in several laser skin rejuvenation techniques, offering the IPL Photofacial to patients in Powell and Knoxville, TN.

What is an IPL Photofacial?

The IPL Photofacial uses intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy to reduce unwanted hyperpigmentation and signs of aging on the skin. Dr. Gallaher and his team of skilled aestheticians typically recommend IPL Photofacial treatments to patients who wish to address:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Freckles
  • Birthmarks
  • Spider vein
  • Rosacea
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Scarring
  • Unwanted facial hair

During the IPL Photofacial process, the intense pulsed light energy targets hyperpigmentation deep within the lower layers of the skin while keeping the uppermost layers of skin unharmed. This type of non-invasive skin rejuvenation treatment treats your concerns at their source while keeping downtime and recovery at a minimum. At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we are proud to offer IPL Photofacials via the InMode® Optimas and the Cutera® Xeo.

How Much Does an IPL Photofacial Cost?

At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we take a personalized approach to every IPL Photofacial procedure. This means that the cost of your treatment will depend on variables like the IPL system used and the number of treatment sessions needed. As a result, we cannot provide you with the exact cost of treatment until you visit us in-office for a consultation. If you are concerned about the cost of your treatment, we are proud to offer financing to help make our treatments more affordable.

What is the IPL Photofacial Treatment Like?

Your IPL Photofacial will be performed in our state-of-the-art facility by one of our expert aestheticians. Before your IPL Photofacial treatment begins, your treatment area will be cleaned and a cooling gel will be applied to the skin. You may also be given protective eyewear to wear throughout your treatment. Once prepped, the IPL device will be placed onto the skin and pulses of intense light will be administered. Each treatment session will vary in length depending on the size of your treatment area and your desired results.

What is Recovery Like Following an IPL Photofacial?

Because IPL Photofacials are minimally invasive treatments that do not use ablative laser methods on the skin’s surface, there is minimal to no downtime associated with each IPL treatment session. Patients may experience mild redness and swelling following treatment, however, most patients return to their normal daily activities including work immediately following treatment.

What Kind of Results Can I Expect from an IPL Photofacial?

While you may see some results of your IPL Photofacial immediately following treatment, most patients typically see the full results of their IPL Photofacials about three to four months following their final treatment session. The IPL Photofacial provides the best results for patients who have a lighter skin tone and darker hair, as the contrast between the skin and hair makes it easier for the laser system to target pigmentation. Talk to Dr. Gallaher about whether the IPL Photofacial is right for you during your private consultation.
