What is a Breast Lift?
A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that eliminates excess skin and breast tissue to lift the breasts to a more youthful position. The aging natural process, pregnancy, or changes in weight can cause the breasts to sag or deflate over time. With a breast lift, patients can restore the youthful appearance of the breasts to enhance their appearance and improve their confidence. Many patients also enjoy the added benefit of being able to correct the size and placement of the nipple, which can also be affected by the factors mentioned above. The results from a breast lift can be further improved with the use of breast augmentation techniques.
How Much Does a Breast Lift Cost?
At Gallaher Plastic Surgery & Spa MD, we take a personalized approach to every breast lift procedure. This means that the cost of your treatment will depend on variables such as your personal preferences and unique cosmetic goals. As a result, we cannot provide you with the exact cost of treatment until you visit us in-office for a consultation. If you are concerned about the cost of your treatment, we are proud to offer plastic surgery financing to help make our treatments more affordable. In addition, we offer CosmetAssure insurance with every cosmetic surgery, so you can go into your treatment with confidence and peace of mind.
What is the Breast Lift Surgery Like?
During your breast lift surgery, an incision around the areola of the nipple is usually required. In some cases, an additional incision will extend downward from the nipple, towards the breast crease. The location and size of your incision will depend on the condition of the breasts and your specific treatment plan. After the incisions are made, we will remove excess breast tissue and skin to produce a firm, lifted appearance in the breasts. At this point, we can also adjust the positioning of the nipple so that it sits naturally in the center of the breasts. Once your desired results are achieved, we will close the incisions, completing the treatment.
What is Recovery Like Following a Breast Lift?
Recovery following a breast lift is different for every patient. In general, you will probably feel a little sore and tired for several days following your surgery. The first 24 to 72 hours after your procedure is when you will experience the most discomfort. However, your breasts may remain swollen and tender for a month or longer. You should avoid strenuous activities for at least one month, but it is likely that you may be allowed to resume light activities after about one week and return to work within a few days. Part of your recovery also involves wearing a postoperative bra or compression garment. These items are designed to provide you with extra support and positioning while you heal. We will provide you with additional information regarding your recovery during your consultation.
