Is Winter the Best Time for a Breast Augmentation?

As bikini season approaches, many women begin diet and exercise regimes in preparation for poolside parties, beach soirees, and much-needed vacation time. If you’ve got a breast augmentation on the mind, it may also be the time of year to start thinking about scheduling a consult.

Springtime may be the most popular time of year for breast augmentations, but that doesn’t mean it’s the best time of year. Of course, breast enhancement surgery can be done anytime but here at Gallaher Plastic surgery & Spa MD, we feel winter months are better. It’s important for you to determine when you’d like to be bikini ready and plan accordingly.

The majority of women tend to be fully-recovered 3-4 weeks after their breast augmentation but every woman is different. Some women may feel swollen and tender up to several months post-surgery. Doing too much too soon can prolong recovery time.

Giving yourself a few extra months to rest up and focus on recovery is a good idea for those wishing to show off their new curves at the start of summer. With fewer activities throughout the fall and winter, you’ll be able to focus full-time on recovery without missing out or pushing yourself too hard. Colder weather often means heavier, less-revealing clothing so you can heal more privately as well.

It is important to keep in mind that more than one consult may be necessary prior to your breast augmentation. In many cases, surgery may be scheduled several weeks after your initial consultation. Because spring is the most popular season for breast augmentation, you may be waiting longer depending on your surgeon’s availability.

Remember, every woman’s body is unique. What’s right for some women, may not necessarily be right for you. During your in-person consultation, your doctor will explain the procedure step-by-step so you can make an informed decision about your breast enhancement surgery.
